When Florida Power and Light put into service the Dania Beach power facility Calvin Coolidge was president. In 2018, 91 years after it began operations, the service provider began dismantling the location to make way for one of the cleanest most efficient power plants of its kind. Located between Fort Lauderdale and Miami, the new $888 million natural gas facility lowered emissions and operating costs.

Concrete pipe has the necessary structural strength and rigidity to withstand heavy external loads. The steel components of the pipe, the joint ring, cylinder and high-strength prestressing wire, are protected by a cement-rich mortar coating on the outer wall. - Wide variety of diameters – 16”-144”. This project included embedded and lined PCCP in diameters of 24”-84”.
- Built in corrosion protection – steel components are wrapped in concrete and protected from corrosion.
- Joint restraint – PCCP can be installed with Thompson Pipe Group Snap Rings© or harness clamps. This project included harness clamps. The two-part system is positioned around the joint and secured by tightening two drawbolts on each side. No welding is required for either and both are protected by portland rich cement.
- Testable joints – Contractors air test joints in the field to confirm leak-free connections.
