Texas Concrete Pipe Manufacturer Hosts U.S. Congressman

Texas

Alvarado, TX – Johnson County Pipe, a Texas-based concrete pipe manufacturing company owned by Thompson Pipe Group, hosted Rep. Roger Williams, R-Texas, and discussed the critical need for improvements to America’s failing infrastructure and the importance of job growth. Congressman Williams’ visit took place Tuesday, August 19, and was arranged by the American Concrete Pipe Association (ACPA) to demonstrate how Thompson Pipe Group and other members of the trade organization are creating critical products for infrastructure upgrades, and creating employment for American workers.

“Serving on the House of Representatives Transportation and Infrastructure Committee has given me great appreciation for those working to repair our infrastructure. As a small-business owner, I enjoyed touring Johnson County Pipe and meeting the people who are making a difference,” said Williams.

“We’re glad U.S. Congressman Roger Williams visited our facility and helped elevate the conversation of our failing infrastructure. Funding infrastructure replacement, rather than patching repairs when failures occur, saves U.S. tax-payer dollars in the long-term and puts more Americans to work,” said Thompson Pipe Group President Ken Thompson.

“In 2013, the American Society of Civil Engineers released a report card for America’s infrastructure and gave the nation’s wastewater pipes a D, citing age and need for improvement as reasons for the low mark. Building and installing corrosion-resistant pipe is a critical issue for our country,” said Thompson Pipe Group Executive Vice President Mike Leathers.

Johnson County Pipe is located in Alvarado, Texas, and manufactures reinforced concrete pipe and box for storm water applications. Thompson Pipe Group plans to build a new FLOWTITE® manufacturing facility on the property where Johnson County Pipe is located. The plant is scheduled for completion in 2015, and will add more jobs to the area. Established in 2004, the company ships products throughout North America.
