How TPG FRP is Made
Advanced Filament Winding Technology
TPG FRP pipes are manufactured using the continuous advancing mandrel process, the next generation in glass-reinforced pipe production.
The Process:
- Fiberglass Circumferential Reinforcement: Continuous glass fibers are wound around a rotating mandrel to form internal and external structural layers, providing high circumferential strength against internal pressure.
- Fiberglass Axial Reinforcement: Chopped glass fibers are distributed across layers to increase axial load capacity and impact resistance.
- Resin System: A thermoset resin matrix binds the fibers through polymerization, ensuring long-term durability, corrosion resistance, and chemical resistance.
- Silica Sand Core: Sand is placed near the neutral axis in the pipe wall core to increase stiffness in a cost-effective way.
- Protective Liners: Polyester or glass veils may be added to enhance abrasion resistance and provide additional protection in aggressive environments.
The Result:
A compressed composite laminate engineered for strength, stiffness, hydraulic efficiency, and long service life, without the need for cathodic protection or external coatings.
